Users

A user is the username that people use to log into Vernon CMS.

About users

Ideally, every person who can make changes in Vernon CMS should have their own username. However, sometimes it is more appropriate for people to share a username. There is no limit to how many people can log in with the same username.

You should add users to groups to manage their access and permissions.

Benefits to having individual users

  • Each user will automatically have their own folder in Portfolio.

  • You can track and report on changes made by the user with the Audit tool.

  • You can report on who made changes and when using the Update History field in Reporting.

  • You can track whether a user accessed certain processes and datafiles with the Security log.

Built-in users

Vernon CMS comes with three users already set up. Do not remove these users from the Supervisor group.

COLLECT user

Vernon Systems staff use the COLLECT user for support queries.

INDEXING user

The INDEXING user is used in conjunction with a dedicated background indexing session. If you have a large organisation with more than five users, you may wish to install an indexing session to handle background indexing continuously. This session should be logged on as INDEXING.

UPGRADE user

The UPGRADE user is for applying an upgrade to Vernon CMS.
