Search using today's date

You can search on date fields with the QUERY_DATE keyword which represents today's date. You can save the search and run it in future, and it will always represent today's date.

Examples of use

  • Search for all Object records accessioned in the last six months by searching on the Accession Date field.

  • Search for all Inward Loans due to expire in the next month by searching on the End Date field.

  • Search for all Diary tasks due today by searching on the Due Date field.

Examples of search queries

Search query Effect
QUERY_DATE Searches for today's date.
<=QUERY_DATE Search for dates before and including today.
QUERY_DATE...QUERY_DATE+365 Search for dates including today and in the next 365 days.
QUERY_DATE-90...QUERY_DATE Search for dates in the last 90 days and including today.

Steps

  1. Click Advanced on the toolbar to open Advanced Search.

  2. In the list of Search Fields, select a date field and click Next. For example, select Accession Date.

  3. In the Search For field, enter the search query. For example, enter QUERY_DATE-90...QUERY_DATE to search for Object records with an accession date in the last 90 days.

  4. Click Next to see the number of search results and optionally refine your search.

  5. Optional: Click Save to save the search in Portfolio. This means you can easily open the saved search in future to immediately run it. The search will use the QUERY_DATE keyword to represent the date that you run the search.

  6. Click Finish to open your results in a browse list.
