Translation Term field
The Translation Term field records terms that are translations of the current term.
Examples
-
In the Place file, on the New Zealand record, you could enter Aotearoa in the Translation Term field.
-
On the Florence record, you could enter Firenze in the Translation Term field.
How this field works
Vernon CMS maintains a reciprocal relationship between records that are connected with the Translation Term field.
You can search on either term and the system will find all instances of both.
If you have recorded a language for the original term, then the Translated From field will automatically update with that language.
When you create a translation term, you only need to enter the:
-
Name of the term (for example, Firenze)
-
Hierarchical level of the term (for example, City). The level should be the same as that of the term in its original language.
