Test a User Symbolic field

You can test any User Symbolic field with a sample record to see what your result will be.

Steps

  1. Go to Tools > System Maintenance > User Defined Parameters > User Symbolics.

  2. Select the User Symbolic you would like to test.

  3. In the Test the Selected User Symbolic section on the right of the window, in the Sample Record field, enter a record to test. You can click Options to open Advanced Search to help you search for a sample record.

  4. The Conversion checkbox is ticked by default. To receive the test result as raw data, untick this checkbox.

  5. If you are testing a User Symbolic for sorting, tick the Sort Value checkbox. This will show you how the result will be converted for sorting.

  6. Click Calculate.

  7. The result will be displayed in the Test Result box. If you do not get the desired result, you can edit the User Symbolic's configuration.

  8. Once you are satisfied, click Save in the User Symbolic window.
