Create an image derivative for reporting

Learn how to create an image derivative for use in reporting and Vernon Browser.

Overview

Vernon CMS can create images of different sizes and quality in addition to original images. These are called image derivatives and the system has eight default sizes.

You can create image derivatives if the existing ones are not suitable.

Steps

  1. Go to the Database menu and click Other Files.

  2. In the Other field, enter image and click OK. This will open the Image Derivative file window.

  3. In the Name field, enter a name for your image derivative.

  4. In the Maximum Width and Maximum Height fields, enter the maximum dimensions in pixels. Original images will be reduced to fit these dimensions, they will not be enlarged.

  5. Optional: In the Quality field, enter a number between 10 and 100. This number controls the level of compression for the images. If no quality is entered, the original image quality will be retained.

  6. Optional: In the Format field, select a file format. If this field is left blank, the derivative images will be created in the same format as the original images.

  7. Click Save.

The image derivative will now be available in the Reporting tool and Vernon Browser.
