Get an internal field name or Field Mark Count (FMC)

Every field in Vernon CMS has its own internal field name and Field Mark Count (FMC). Some tools and functions in Vernon CMS require you to use the internal field name of a field.

Steps

  1. Click into a field.

  2. Press Alt+F1 on your keyboard or go to the Help menu and then click Database Information.

  3. The Database Information window will open on the bottom-left of your screen.

    • At the bottom of this window are the internal field name and FMC of the field your cursor is in. This example shows information about the Brief Description field. The internal field name is BRIEF_DESC and the FMC is 13.

    • If the field is in a table, internal field names and FMCs will be listed in the order that columns appear in the table. This example shows information about the fields in the Current Location table.

  4. Optional: You can select and copy the internal field name for pasting into other tools and functions.

Tip: You can also use the Field Usage Count tool to get a list of all the fields in a datafile, and their internal field name and FMC number.
